Our story begins in 2016 with a small group of friends joining the American Rocketry Challenge, our team based out of Frog Pond Airport. A decade later in 2026, Michael Cuthbertson II founded Frog Pond Aeronautics, this time with a vision: Resurrect legendary warbirds using modern composites and avionics.
Building a next-generation composite warbird is a monumental undertaking. Rather than relying on outside investment to get off the ground, Frog Pond Aeronautics is taking a phased, self-funded approach to aerospace manufacturing. By mastering our materials on a smaller scale first, we ensure zero compromises when it comes time to build the airframe.
Before we build wings, we master the weave. We are currently designing and manufacturing high-end, aviation-themed decor using the same aerospace-grade carbon fiber and composite techniques that will eventually skin our aircraft. This phase allows us to perfect our production methods, test resin infusions, and build a cash-flowing business that directly funds our full-scale R&D. Every piece we sell brings a composite warbird one step closer to the runway.
With our composite manufacturing infrastructure established, capital is directed into full-scale research and development. This phase focuses on acquiring original blueprints, designing the structural molds, and re-engineering the classic airframe to maximize the strength-to-weight benefits of modern composites while integrating modern avionics and safety systems.
The culmination of our composite mastery. Phase III is the physical assembly, structural testing, and ultimate flight testing of our first full-scale, next-generation replica.
The prototype moves from the workshop to the runway. As an experimental aircraft, this phase is dedicated to rigorous flight testing to expand the performance envelope, validating our composite structural integrity and systems integration under real-world flight conditions. This is where we fine-tune handling characteristics and performance metrics, ensuring the aircraft delivers an unparalleled flying experience while meeting our internal safety and quality benchmarks.
With the flight-test program successfully completed, we enter a controlled, low-volume production phase. Each aircraft is produced as a custom-commissioned experimental warbird, allowing owners to participate in the final configuration, from historically accurate liveries to modernized glass-cockpit layouts and performance-tuned setups. Every aircraft is hand-crafted to meet the specific requirements of the owner, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind flying machine.
